Returns are commonly known as a major challenge for the fashion industry; while bricks-and-mortar stores typically have a one per cent return rate, e-commerce rates range from 20 to 50 times higher.
Footwear is no exception to this trend; industry experts argue that the main reason for returns is the lack of a sufficient customer experience online. 3D and augmented reality (AR) technology addresses this issue by mimicking the in-store experience. The data speaks for itself, with skyrocketing conversion and engagement rates and decreasing return rates.
Additional benefits reported by brands currently using 3D/AR include production efficiency and flexibility in their content production, leading to major cost savings for their in-house production teams.
At Micam last September, Fibbl demonstrated its scalable capability to produce high-quality, photorealistic 3D models while delivering 3D/AR experiences for over 100 footwear brands during the fair.
Now, the company said that “the question is no longer if the technology works but rather how it should be used and implemented”.
Henrik Arlestig, CEO and Co-Founder of Fibbl, said: “The cost, quality, and time required to capitalise on the opportunity of using 3D and AR in e-commerce have previously deterred most brands from investing in this area. But no more. We are fundamentally changing the game for footwear brands by introducing an affordable, accessible, and easy-to-buy service.
“A unique opportunity has opened, placing the footwear industry ahead of other product categories in fashion – leveraging 3D/AR to elevate the online customer experience.”
Fibbl is offering its technology to footwear brands, presenting an opportunity for them to lead the way in leveraging 3D and AR technology to solve the issue of returns.
The company recently exhibited at the latest Micam show last week. As well as this it hosted a keynote presentation ‘Footwear brands leading the trend of 3D/AR in the fashion industry’ at MicamX, and its own press meeting presentation sharing real-time data demonstrating the value and impact of using 3D/AR for footwear brands.
